Cannes Film Festival Day 4: Laughs and Tears

Today’s Cannes event wasn’t about Sea of trees’ press conference, where neither Gus Van Sant, Matthew McConaughey nor Naomi Watts were able to shake off their film’s disappointment. Rather it was the screening of Nanni Moretti’s minimalist Mi Madre which offered the most touching moments. A mix of comedy and drama, the film centers on the last days of a movie director’s mother – one will most particularly notice John Turturro as an arrogant actor. As a side note, Mr. Turturro being friend with the Jury presidents – the Cohen brothers – , this might handicap his chances at getting a prize …
