Gangster Squad Blu-Ray DVD

gangster squad posterGangster Squad is available as Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital and DVD/Digital combos. The 1080p/AVC transfer looks good, emphasizing the colorful costumes and Los Angeles setting.

Extras can be found on the Blu-Ray edition including a Gangland files playback mode giving you access to behind the scenes. Another feature, the Set-up, offers comments from a surviving member of the squad as well as relatives of the other members. As its title suggests. the Then and Now Locations extra compares the old and new Los Angeles; you will find also Rogues Gallery, a biographical piece about Mickey Cohen and of course an audio commentary.

More disappointing is the presence of deleted scenes which do not include the notorious sequence portraying a shooting inside the Chinese theater.

Own It, Watch it or Skip it?

The movie being pretty mediocre, I certainly wouldn’t recommend owning it but you might want to watch it, if you lile movies about that era and 80’s style shoot-them-up flicks.
