Mad Max: Fury Road’s Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy at the Cannes Film Festival

The second day of the 2015 Cannes film festival provided for some visually arresting moments.  Following a disappointing opening day with Emmanuelle Bercot’s demagogic Standing Tall and Matteo Garrone’s easy Tale of tales, Mad Max: Fury Road (read our review here) was certainly today’s highlight, even though it was out of competition, George Miller proving he was able to reinvent his own myth.

As for the official competition, the first surprise came at the end of the day with László Nemes’ Son of Saul, an intense movie describing Auschwitz’s horror.
