Man of Tai Chi Blu-Ray

man-of-tai-chi-posterJust a few weeks after a short stint on the big screen, Keanu Reeves’ directional debut is now available on Blu-Ray. This little martial art film starring Tiger Hu, a stuntman who worked on The Matrix and Kill Bill sagas, proved to be pleasant – but flawed – surprise, the Hollywood actor avoiding Hollywood cliches (read our full review of the film here).

Mr. Chen plays a deliveryman who joins a secret fight club to raise money to save a Tai Chi temple. Becoming quickly a champion thanks to his unique martial arts skills, he also slowly succumbs to darker instincts, before realizing he’s being manipulated by a sinister media mogul (Keanu Reeves).

Man of Tai Chi is presented with an excellent high-def transfer (1080p resolution) while the DTS-HD 5.1  master delivers the goods when it comes to Audio.

This edition is however cheap on extras, only offering your typical audi track commentary plus a Making Of lasting less then 10mn.

Own it, Watch it or Skip it?

If you like martial arts and/or Keanu Reeves, this is a decent enough effort worth watching. Others should also enjoy the great photography work from Elliot Davis who, among other things, worked on Steven Soderbergh’s Out of Sight and the western series Hell on Wheels.
