The Salt of the Earth Blu Ray release

The Salt of the Earth Blu Ray

There are quite a few interesting Blu-Ray releases in various genres.

On the sci-fi/horror front we have the haunting Ex Machina about a man falling in love with a sexy robot – yeah I know how it sounds but this is actually thought-provoking film – as well as It Follows where a girl passes her curse to her sexual partners.

There’s Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley’s Island of Dr. Moreau, a documentary about the troubled making of the infamous Razzie-nominated Island of Dr Moreau – the 80’s adaptation starring Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer. This is another example of Hollywood taking away a movie from his director – Richard Stanley – to turn it into something worse.

When it comes to re-releases, there’s Alain Resnais’ Hiroshima Mon Amour, a French new wave classic as well as the uncut edition of All Quiet on the Western Front, an essential movie about World War I often shown in classrooms.

Our pick this week goes to another beautiful Wim Wender’s documentary, The Salt of the Earth, which follows photographer Sebastian Salgado around the world as he captures breathtaking landscapes.
