New Blu Ray Releases This Week: September 1st 2015

Mad Max: Fury Road Blu Ray release

Mad Max: Fury Road Blu Ray

With back to school, you would assume that we would get plenty of great Blu-ray releases this week but only a few contenders caught our attention.

The first one is Gemma Bovary, a French drama from Anne Fontaine (Adore) about a beautiful British moving to a village in France – of course the title refers to Gustave Flaubert’s popular novel. The movie stars Gemma Arterton and Fabrice Luchini.

In another genre, there is the Ethan Hawke starrer Good Kill, which explores killing remotely with drones.

Weekly Blu-Ray Picks

This week, we have two picks to compensate for last week, which we didn’t cover – I must admit I was away sipping cocktails in a swimming pool but that’s another story.

Last week’s pick goes to Two Days, One Night, a simple but haunting work from the Dardenne brothers – read our Two Days, One Night review here.

As for this week’s, it unsurprisingly goes to another Cannes festival entry, Mad Max; Fury Road which is the best action movie we’ve seen in a long time – read our Mad Max review here.
