Saint Laurent Blu Ray release

Saint Laurent Blu Ray

After taking a break last week due to the absence of worthy Blu Ray releases, we are back with some interesting titles this week. First, Criterion Collection is releasing Wes Anderson’s beautiful and odd Moonrise Kingdom about two kids running away from a camp. There’s also the 25th Anniversary Edition of Martin Scorsese’s classic Goodfellas, which doesn’t need any introduction. In terms of bad movies, while I won’t waste time on releases such as Entourage, I wanted the mention the highly entertaining documentary about Cannon Films, Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films, which is out on DVD – you can read my review of Electric Boogaloo here. On a more personal note, there is also the French crime thriller The Connection which is set in Marseilles and based on a true story that tragically ended on the block where I grew up … but I won’t get into details about this.

WEEKLY BLU-RAY PICK

Our pick this week goes to Saint Laurent, an extravagant biopic about the famous French fashion designer which was directed by the talented and often controversial Bertrand Bonello (Tiresia, House of Tolerance). This movie was in competition at the Cannes film festival and you can read our full review of Saint Laurent here.
