New Blu Ray Releases This Week: August 2nd 2016

Here are our Top 3 new blu-ray releases for the week of August 2nd including a 2015 Cannes contender, a 70’s classic as well as TV series:

The Lobster Blu-RayStarring Colin Farrell, The Lobster is a very singular work delivering an incisive portrait of a totalitarian society. Rather than rambling about it, I’ll let you read our Lobster review here or watch the trailer to give you an idea.

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers Blu-Ray Here’s an alien invasion story that was lucky enough to get three good movie adaptations from strong filmmakers: The first one in 1956 was directed by Don Siegel (Dirty Harry), the second was signed in 1978 by Philip Kaufman (The Unbearable Lightness of Being) while the last one was delivered by Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant) in 1994. All 3 movies offer different takes on the story, but this Philip Kaufman version which stars Donald Sutherland is pretty much a 70’s sci-fi classic and without a doubt the one delivering the most paranoid thrills.

The Knick 2 Blu-RayStarring Clive Owen as a brilliant doctor and addict in 1900 New York, The Knick might not be a movie but has all the artistic and production values a movie can get, thanks to its creator, the great indie filmmaker Steven Soderbergh: great acting, visuals and soundtrack will keep you captivated.
