New Blu Ray Releases This Week: October 18th 2016

Blu Ray release October 18th with Pan's Labyrinth

Pan’s Labyrinth Blu-Ray cover – October 18th releases

Here are our Top 3 new blu-ray releases for the week of October 18th and, we continue our mix of foreign and American classics.

The first one is Criterion’s edition of Pan’s Labyrinth, a creepy fantasy tale from Mexican film director Guillermo del Toro which can be found as a stand-alone Blu-Ray or as part as a trilogy box set along Cronos and The Devil’s Backbone – as a side note, if you’re in L.A., I recommend seeing Guillermo del Toro exhibit showing at LACMA.

Our second pick is Robert Altman’s Shortcut – also from Criterion – which is set in Los Angeles and based on Raymond Carver’s short stories with connected characters – both the novel and film adaptation are great narrative pieces.

Finally, we have Ang Lee’s glossy martial arts film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon which pretty much introduced a poetic martial art subgenre to international audiences.
