R100 Blu-Ray

r100-posterA surrealist S&M film by Japanese comedian-turned filmmaker Hitoshi Matsumoto, R100 is now available on Blu-Ray.

The movie centers on a man whose life gets turned upside down after joining an S&M club. Featuring a post-modern twist – a classic tale of film within a film – as well as some strong and sometime shocking doses of dark humor, R100 is certainly not for everybody but has all the elements to become a cult film. However, if you enjoy the works of unbridled provocative directors such as Álex de la Iglesia (The Last Circus), Takashi Miike (Ichi the Killer), Luis Buñuel (The Andalusian Dog) and Quentin Dupieux (Reality), you will certainly get a kick out of it – I know, I sure did!

Brought to you by Drafthouse films and Cinedigm, this Blu-Ray edition come as a single disc with standard 1080P resolution, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack as well as English subtitles.

Own It, Watch It or Skip It?

While I’m certainly recommending watching it, I don’t think this is the kind of work I would watch so many times, as this is so singular and heavy that it leaves a long-lasting mark on its audience. That said, if you do like spending your Saturday nights in dungeons, it might become one of you all-time favorites and, in that case, you should certainly buy it.
