The Great Gatsby Blu-Ray DVD Review

the great gatsby posterBaz Luhrmann’s new take on The Great Gatsby is now available in every format you can think of, from Blu-Ray to Blu-Ray 3D, DVD, digital copy and streaming. The film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and premiered internationally this year at the Cannes film festival proved to be a disappointment.

As you would expect from a film by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge), the 1080p transfer and 5.1 surround track look and sound great.

As for the extras. there are plenty of them including various featurettes about the Gatsby story, the film;s music and some behind the scenes as well as the usual deleted scenes and trailers.

Own it, Watch it or Skip it?

Whether they are good or bad, I think Baz Luhrmann movies are worth seeing, at least for their great visuals and soundtracks. As to own it, only die hard Luhrmann or Gatsby fans should enjoy this film enough to watch it several times. Others will be satisfied experiencing once.
